About Jakob Leth Fink

Jakob Leth Fink, b. 1977. I received a training in the History of Ideas at the University of Aarhus and took my minor in Classics (mainly Greek) at the University of Copenhagen. My Ph.D. Thesis (University of Copenhagen, 2009) was concerned with Arisotle’s ideas about the communication of philosophical knowledge. From 2009 to 2011 I worked as a post doctoral researcher at the Centre for the Aristotelian Tradition, University of Copenhagen in a project funded by the Velux Foundation and from 2011 to 2014 (where I enter the Representation and Reality project) I will be funded by the Carlsberg Foundation as an individual postdoctoral researcher.

My main areas of research are Plato and Aristotle and the reception of Aristotle’s Metaphysics in early modern times (especially in the work of Francisco Suárez 1548–1617). I am particularly interested in dialectic, metaphysics and ethics in Plato and Aristotle and in the traditions stemming from these two philosophers.

My responsibility in the project is to investigate Aristotle’s position with respect to the formation and conceptualisation of ethical values and to follow the reception of his position among the late Ancient Greek commentators, mainly Aspasius, and among the thirteenth century Latin philosophers up till and including Thomas Aquinas.
